Tennessee Electrical Power Acquisition Corporation
(TEPAC) was organized on November 4, 1998 as a result of the efforts
of a number of Tennessee municipal electric utilities to form a joint action
agency. TEPAC membership is open to all Tennessee municipal electric
utilities. Presently, there are 40 active members.
One of the primary purposes for which the
Corporation is organized is to acquire, produce, transmit, and otherwise
deal in electrical power and energy, to acquire, own, lease, operate, sell,
finance, and otherwise deal with and manage facilities for the production,
distribution and transmission of electrical power and energy, and to
exercise all powers granted to energy acquisition corporations with respect
to electrical power and energy by Title 7, Chapter 39, Tennessee Code
Annotated. TEPAC has the ability to operate and provide other services
to its members. As an example, the company operates a contract meter
reading service. Dickson Electric System is the client.
An annual meeting of all Associated Municipalities of the
Corporation is held on the same date and location as the annual meeting of
the Tennessee Municipal Electric Power Association (TMEPA). Quarterly
meetings of the TEPAC Board are held on the same day as the quarterly meetings of
the TMEPA Board.
The affairs of the Corporation are managed by the Board
of Directors and all the powers of the Corporation are vested in the Board
of Directors. The Board is composed of two Directors from each of the Grand
Divisions of Tennessee in addition to Directors from the cities of
Chattanooga, Knoxville, Memphis and Nashville, if said city is an active
member of the Corporation. The current Board consists of the following
