2009 Annual Meeting of the Members

7 Reasons to
attend the TMEPA Annual Meeting

                                             WELCOME TO TMEPA!

TMEPA is a membership association of 59 of the 61 Municipal Electric Power Providers serving over 70% of the electric consumers in the State of Tennessee.  Our Primary objective is to represent the members in the state legislative arena although we do participate in national issues in conjunction with APPA and TVPPA.  As a service oriented organization, we also provide a number of other services to the members and exist for their benefit.  Membership in TMEPA brings a host of benefits to its members and the financial savings have certainly exceeded the nominal annual fee each system pays.  A "Value of Membership" document gives more information and can be viewed or downloaded by clicking here

You'll notice in the left margin a category of Membership titled - Associate Members.  We encourage you to click on this link to view the organizations who financially support TMEPA and its activities.  The highest level of support is Partner (Level 4).  All who have renewed or joined as Associate Members as of January 14 are listed in the 2009 TMEPA Member Directory.  This link includes all who have joined since the first of the year.  We hope to add others over the coming weeks to this page as they renew their membership or join the Associate Member program.  We are grateful to each of them and encourage you to give them the opportunity to serve your system needs. If you would like more information on this exciting new program, click on the following link... Associate Member Program.

The first session of the 106th General Assembly adjourned on Thursday, June 18.  Ninety legislative days are allotted to each two-year general assembly.  The house used 45 of their days this year and the senate used 46.  Due to the uncertainty about revenue and the budget, this session was unusually late in adjourning.  All bills introduced this year that were not acted on will still be around next year for the second session of the 106th General Assembly.  The General Assembly will reconvene on January 12, 2010.

System Members may access the Legislative Reports through the Members Only page.  The Members Only page also has the minutes of our previous meetings, including Board Meetings, the Approved Board Policies, and 2008 (Second Session) and 2009 First Session Legislative Reports.  If you have misplaced your login and password, give us a call.

Our next scheduled meeting will be the Annual Meeting of the Members to be held on July 15-17, 2009 at the Knoxville Marriott, Knoxville, TN.  Our annual golf tournament will be July 15 at the remarkable Egwani Farms Golf Course and the registration can be downloaded by clicking HERE.  The Golf Tournament is a separate event sponsored by TMEPA and HD Supply.  Our Annual Welcoming Reception will be the evening of July 15 at the amazing Women's Basketball Hall of Fame next door to the Marriott.  Our Meeting will begin the next morning on July 16.  Click HERE to view the Program.  We believe you'll agree that this program is of great value to both yourself and your organization and just in case you need additional reasons click on 7 Reasons to Attend the TMEPA Meeting for more.  TMEPA System Members may register online by clicking on the following link - TMEPA Regular Member Online Registration. If you haven't received the appropriate registration form give us a call.  Senator Lamar Alexander will be closing our meeting this year with a presentation starting at 11:45 a.m. on Friday, July 17.  He has also committed to a question and answer session following his talk.  This is a great opportunity to ask your Senior Senator questions specific to our industry.

If you have a few minutes check out Tennessee Connections, the premier magazine of the municipal electric systems of Tennessee, by "clicking" on the link in the left margin.  It'll take you to the website dedicated to this outstanding publication. Read Tennessee Connections online for interesting travel destinations, energy saving tips, and events.  Also try this issue’s featured recipes and enjoy the new video section.  Check back for a new issue each quarter and go to Contact Us to let us know what you think.

We continue to ask for your support, assistance and your prayers in order to assure success. Please don’t hesitate to contact us for any input. TMEPA exists for the benefit of its members and our success is your success.
